Growing and increasing your visibility on socials can be a headache, especially if you’re trying to DIY it. But it doesn’t have to be! In this short guide we’ll focus on Instagram, but a lot of these methods are transferable and apply to other platforms too.
Let’s take a look at some quick tips for increasing your visibility in your audience news feed…
Post more videos – they captivate attention better and are known to perform well on all social channels.
Post at the times your audience are most active. This will increase your chances of getting your posts seen.
Encourage conversation/engagement with thought-provoking content and ‘triggers’ (i.e. polls and questions that trigger a response).
Use as many in-app features as you can (e.g. on Instagram – Instagram Guides, Reels, IGTV, Live, Instagram’s story features and stickers).
Post carousels to Instagram – people will spend more time looking at them and the Instagram algorithm responds well to the amount of time people spend looking at your content.
Provide value for free (industry tips, advice, tutorials, etc).
On Instagram, use no more than 30 relevant hashtags that are popular with your target audience.
Add location stickers to every story (even if you need to hide them behind text and other stickers).
Make sure you do not use any banned hashtags as Instagram will start to remove your posts from being shown in the news feed.
Avoid posting anything that goes against the T’s & C’s of the platform (i.e. competitions asking people to follow/like/tag).
Engage as much as possible. The more you engage and interact with others, the more the algorithm will favour and rank you.
